To date, I have authored or co-authored three trade books on computer programming, all published by John Wiley & Sons, and one consumer-oriented computing title, published by Peachpit Press. The programming books have focused on handheld computing topics: Java programming of mobile and wireless devices using Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) and Palm OS programming using C/C++. The consumer-oriented book is about making money with Google's AdSense program. Each book has garnered decent reviews, be sure to check the pages at Amazon.com for specific opinions. (To see what books I like, see my list of recommended books.)
In reverse order of publication, the books are:
Make Easy Money with Google
A consumer-oriented book (in other words, a book for non-technical computer users) that shows how to build money-making websites using Google's AdSense program. The book is written partly in a narrative style, kind of like The Wealthy Barber, and will appeal to anyone young or old who's interested in learning about the Web, advertising, and Google. Mobile Information Device Profile for Java 2 Micro Edition
Co-authored with C. Enrique Ortiz, this is the first book that specifically focuses on the Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP), the first profile to be defined under the Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) umbrella. Extensively covers MIDP 1.0 and provides a good introduction to J2ME in general. More information | Browse this book on Amazon.com
Java 2 Micro Edition
The first book published anywhere about Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME). An extensive look at what J2ME is and how it evolved from earlier attempts at creating "small footprint" Java implementations. Coverage of MIDP and alternatives like Waba. More information | Browse this book on Amazon.com
Palm Database Programming
A praised introduction to Palm OS programming, with special coverage of database programming for the most popular handheld device operating system. Teaches you all the basics you need to get going. Also discusses relational databases and data synchronization. More information | Browse this book on Amazon.com |
In addition to these books, I have also written a number of articles on these subjects. And be sure to check out these special interest sections as well:
