The CLDC

The Mobile Information Device Profile, or MIDP for short, is the first profile defined by the Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) standards process. A profile extends a J2ME configuration — in this case, the CLDC — with additional support for building domain-specific applications. In most cases, this means that a profile defines APIs for user interface creation, data persistence, and other high-level abstractions not defined at the configuration level. For more details, see the articles J2ME Core Concepts and The Importance of the Mobile Information Device Profile.
